Study & learn - The foundation years

In Forms 1 and 2 (Years 7 & 8) we offer a broad curriculum which reflects, but is not determined by, the National Curriculum.

Subjects studied: English, Mathematics, Science, French, German, History, Geography, Design Technology, Religious Studies, Personal & Social Education (PSE), Art, Music, Drama, Physical Education and Information Technology.

Pupils learn to manage their time and to prioritise their commitments to meet the changing academic demands that they face.

A significant number of students join in Form 3 (Year 9) after Common Entrance. All subjects studied in Forms 1 and 2 continue although the sciences are taught as separate subjects: Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Spanish is introduced and there is an opportunity to continue with Latin for those who have already studied it.

In the latter part of the academic year, Form 3 pupils receive thorough guidance before making their GCSE choices.
